Burgerism

Burgerism is a well-known Manchester-based burger takeaway brand, recognised for its high-quality burgers made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Its newest unit is prominently located in the heart of Manchester, facing key city landmarks such as Piccadilly Gardens and the Piccadilly Gardens Tram Station. With existing branches in Salford, Gatley, and Ardwick areas primarily catering to takeaway services, Burgerism continues to grow its presence across Greater Manchester.
The interior of the new unit reflects the brand’s core values of quality and simplicity. The design thoughtfully complements Burgerism’s visual identity through a cohesive use of colour, material, and layout. These elements not only enhance the customer experience but also strengthen the brand's recognisable aesthetic.

The interior design features a bold combination of orange and off-white, establishing a strong visual identity that supports Burgerism’s expansion into dine-in experiences. These signature colours help create a cohesive brand atmosphere across current and future locations, reinforcing the company’s ethos through spatial design.
Grid format light fixtures are strategically used, with a variety of different light fixtures arranged within the track system to create visual interest at high level. The grid format light fixtures also echo the grided tiled wall.  Exposed mechanical services contribute to an industrial, honest aesthetic. Stainless steel is reserved for the main counter and preparation areas, highlighting its durability and functional strength. This contrasts effectively with the warmer colour palette and textured finishes used throughout the rest of the interior, balancing practicality with a strong design narrative.

Square tiles, stainless steel, and grid format light fixtures form the core material palette for Burgerism’s interior. These materials were selected for their distinctive shape, durability, and industrial character, aligning with the brand’s bold and functional identity. The signature "Burgerism Orange" is prominently featured on key joinery elements and through strip lights which are seamlessly embedded in joinery, upstands and linings, creating a strong visual impact that encourages customers to dine in, while still supporting the brand’s takeaways.

The grid format light fixture is designed with an evenly proportioned ratio, a concept echoed in the stainless-steel cladding across the main counter, creating visual consistency and structural rhythm. The open kitchen layout enhances transparency and encourages customer engagement, adding an interactive element to the dining experience. The openness also allows the aroma of freshly cooked burgers to permeate the space, enriching the sensory experience and heightening the anticipation of taste.

Proposed floor plan

The layout establishes a clear division between public and private areas, ensuring both functionality and flow. Upon entry, the self-service kiosk and POS counter immediately guide customers through the ordering process, leading naturally to the seating area at the rear of the unit for a relaxed dine in experience.
The seating area offers views of Piccadilly Gardens, with seasonal foliage softening the boundary between interior and exterior, enhancing the connection to the surrounding environment. An asymmetrical, U-shaped counter with a gentle curve subtly directs foot traffic, creating a smooth transition from ordering to seating while contributing to the overall spatial rhythm.
