Overdale

Overdale is a family home that must accommodate the needs of both the younger and older generations. As such, the brief was to extend and reconfigure the property, both on the ground and first floors, to enable the spaces to better respond to the users and ensure long-term flexibility.
At ground level, the existing annex has been reconfigured to provide a gym/games room, utility, and a wheelchair-friendly granny annex - overlooking the garden and fields beyond. Within the main house, a rear and side extension allows for an open-plan kitchen and snug area, with built-in dining table, intended to improve visibility of children while cooking. Multi-directional views to the north-west fields and rear garden are afforded in the open-plan space which spans the rear of the property. By removing the wall in the hall, garden views are enjoyed upon entry to the property.

On the first floor, the extension affords increased storage space for the primary and second bedrooms. The front bedroom now houses the primary suite, complete with en-suite and dressing area which overlook the fields. The second bedroom, to the rear, has been increased in size to allow a study space with field vistas. The proposal also achieves a more spacious family bathroom.
